Alice Canty Kenna

LeRoy – Mrs. Alice Canty Kenna, age 95, of  LeRoy, formerly of Batavia, a school teacher at Batavia City Schools, prior to her retirement in 1969, died Friday, June 20, 2003, at United Memorial Medical Center.

Mrs. Kenna was born October 19, 1907 in Batavia, a daughter of the late William Arthur and Loretta Conlon Canty.

She was a former member of St. Mary’s Church in Pavillion, received her Masters in Education from BiffaloState and taught for 41 years first in the ForthillSchool, then in the Batavia City Schools. She was a member of the New York State Retired Teachers’ Association and the Ladies of Charity.

Her Husband, Paul G. Kenna, died in 1971.


Surviving are two stepsons, James E. (Ann) Kenna of Rochester and Michael P. Kenna of Elmira; three stepdaughters, Sharon L. (Gerald) Landcastle of Ferndale, WA., Nancy L. (Pete) Neidrauer of Churchville and Sheila A. (Allen) Galbraith of Piffard; 2 step grandchildren, 9 step great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.


She is the sister of the late Arthur Canty, Joseph Canty, Charlotte Talone, and Helen Maston.


Services will be at a time and place to be announced. Burial will be in St, Mary’s Cemetery, Pavilion. Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Church of Pavilion, 11095 St. Mary’s Street, Pavilion, NY, 14525. Arrangements were made by H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, of Batavia.

 
Graveside services have been scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 15, 2003 at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Pavilion. A Mass of Special Intentions will follow at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church of Pavilion.
