Mrs Ruby Wickings Mark, 78, of State Street Road, died at 2:15 p.m. Wednesday (May 7, 1975) at Genesee Memorial hospital after a long illness.Mrs. Mark was a school teacher for almost sixty years, most of which were spent teaching handicapped children in the Batavia School System. After her retirement in 1964, she substituted in Batavia and area schools.

She was second vice president of the Western New York Retired Teachers  Assn. and an organizer of the Parent Teacher Assn. in Batavia.

A longtime member of the First United Presbyterian Church and its Friendly Class, Mrs. Mark was active in Sunday School work. She was recording secretary of the Holland Purchase Historical Society, past president of the Board of Directors of the YWCA, and past chairman of Genesee County Chapter Council for Exceptional Children.

Mrs. Mark served as a nurse's aide at St. Jerome Hospital during World War II and later was on the board of directors of Genesee Memorial Hospital. She played an active role in the project to finance and build Batavia's community swimming pool.

She was a member of the Wednesday Study Club and the Independent Assn. of Retired Persons.

Surviving are her husband, Wilson H. Mark; three sons, Wilson W. of Brigham, Utah, Lyle of State Street Road, and Lawrence of Holley; a sister Mrs. Glenna Westbrook of Atlanta Ga; 13 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be Friday at 10 a.m. and the First Presbyterian Church. Memorials may be made to the Fanny Dunham Scholarship Fund of the church.
